The Truman Show was popular among critics when it was released in 1998. It received three Academy Award nominations in 1999 for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Director, Best Writing- Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. Although The Truman Show did not snag any awards at the Academy Awards, the film took home three at the Golden Globes. These included Best Performance by an Actor, awarded to Jim Carrey, Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, awarded to Ed Harris, and Best Original Score, awarded to Burkhard von Dallwitz and Philip Glass.
